This article contains the FAQs for the OP450UK Series Ninja® Foodi® MAX Multi-Cooker. Please note this also supports the refurbished model OP450UKREFB.
A fan evenly distributes the heat. It’s essential that foods are slightly elevated above the cooking pot so that air can flow above and below the foods. We also suggest that food is shaken frequently or turned with silicone tipped tongs.
This may occur if you try to remove the pressure lid from the pot before all pressure is released. Wait a few moments after you see the float valve has completely dropped down before opening the lid. Then rotate the lid to unlock it, and remove the lid at an angle to avoid splashing of hot contents.
Quick pressure release takes about 2 minutes or less. Natural pressure release can take up to 20 minutes or more, depending on the type of food and/or the amount of liquid and food in the pot.
The cooking cycle is complete and the unit is in Keep Warm mode.
Make sure the pressure release valve is turned to the SEAL position. If you’ve done this
and still hear a loud hissing noise, it may indicate the silicone seal is not fully in place.
Press START/STOP to stop cooking, VENT as necessary, and remove the pressure lid.
Press down on the silicone ring, ensuring it is fully inserted and lies flat under the ring
rack. Once fully installed, you should be able to tug lightly on the ring to rotate it.
As a safety feature, the pressure lid will not unlock until the unit is completely depressurised. Turn the pressure release valve to the VENT position to quick release the pressurised steam. A quick burst of steam will spurt out of the pressure release valve. When the steam is completely released, the unit will be ready to open. To unlock the pressure lid, turn it counterclockwise. Lift the lid at an angle to avoid splatter. Do not lift the lid straight up
It’s normal for some steam to release through the pressure release valve during cooking. Leave the pressure release valve in the VENT position for Steam, Slow Cook, and Sear/Sauté.
You may have set hours rather than minutes. When setting time, the display will show HH:MM and the time will increase/decrease in minute increments.
Make sure the unit is unplugged, then use a large towel to absorb as much water as possible. Once the cooking base is completely dry, you may use it to cook again. The pressure release valve’s loose fit is intentional; it enables a quick and easy transition between SEAL and VENT and helps regulate pressure by releasing small amounts of steam during cooking to ensure great results. Make sure it is turned as far as possible toward the SEAL position when pressure cooking and as far as possible toward the VENT position when quick releasing steam.
If the pressure release valve is not attached to the pressure lid, simply place the valve on the silver post in the middle of the circular indent on the lid and press down firmly. Note that while the valve will be loose-fitting, it will be securely attached to the unit.
After pressure cooking, steaming, or slow cooking, the unit will automatically switch to Keep Warm mode and start counting up. Keep Warm will stay on for 12 hours, or you may press KEEP WARM to turn it off.
Keep Warm mode is not intended to warm food from a cold state but to keep it warm at a food‐safe temperature after cooking is complete.
The unit is 1760W.
There could be a few reasons why "ADD WATR" appears:
Appears when using pressure function:
The liquid level is too low. Add more liquid to the cooking pot to before restarting the pressure cook cycle. Make sure the pressure release valve is in the SEAL position during pressure cooking and that the silicone ring is installed correctly.
Appears when using steam function:
The liquid level is too low. Add more liquid to the unit for the function to continue.
• When set to Slow Cook or Sear/Sauté, and the unit senses pressure building up, this
message indicates the pressure release valve is in the SEAL position.
• Turn the pressure release valve to the VENT position and leave it there for the remainder
of the cooking function.
• If you do not turn the pressure release valve to the VENT position within 5 minutes, the
program will cancel and the unit will shut off.
The incorrect lid is installed for the selected cooking function, or the pressure lid is not properly installed.
To use Pressure Cook, Slow Cook, Steam, or Sear/Sauté, install the pressure lid.
SHUT LID - The crisping lid is open and needs to be closed for the selected function to start.
OTHR LID - The incorrect lid is installed for your desired cooking function. Install the pressure lid to use the Pressure, Slow Cook, Steam, or Keep Warm modes.
TURN LID - The pressure lid is not fully installed. Turn the pressure clockwise until it clicks to use the
Pressure, Slow Cook, Steam and Keep Warm functions.
This means the cooking pot is not installed in the cooker base. The cooking pot is required for all functions.
This means the unit is not functioning properly. Contact Customer Service at 0800 862 0453. So we may better assist you, please register your product online at ninjakitchen.eu and have the product on hand when you call.
The outside of the unit and stainless steel surface on the pressure lid will get hot during cooking, but the control panel, exterior handles, and handles on the pressure and crisping lids will remain safe to touch at any time during cooking.
Follow these steps to clean the unit thoroughly after every use:
1.) Unplug the unit from the wall socket before cleaning.
2.) To clean the cooker base and control panel, wipe them with a damp cloth. NEVER put the cooker base in the dishwasher or immerse it in water or any other liquid.
3.) The pressure lid and all its components, cooking pot, silicone ring, Reversible Rack, Cook & Crisp™ Basket, and detachable diffuser can be washed in the dishwasher. DO NOT take apart the pressure release valve or float valve assembly.
4.) To clean the crisping lid, wipe it down with a wet cloth or paper towel after the heat shield cools.
5.) If food residue is stuck on the cooking pot, reversible rack, or Cook & Crisp Basket, fill the sink with warm, soapy water and allow to soak before cleaning. DO NOT use scouring pads. If scrubbing is necessary, use a non‐abrasive cleanser or liquid dish soap with a nylon pad or brush.
6.) Thoroughly air‐dry all parts after washing.

No, as the unit builds pressure, the float valve will rise, and the lid will lock as a safety measure. It will not unlock until pressure is released and the float valve drops down, signaling it is safe to open the lid.

As pressure builds in the unit, the control panel will display moving lights and the word PRE. The timer will begin counting down once the unit reaches pressure.
The time to build pressure can take up to 20 minutes. The amount of time varies based on the selected pressure, current temperature of the cooking pot, and temperature and quantity of the ingredients.
Check to make sure the silicone ring is fully seated and flush against the lid. If installed
correctly, you should be able to tug lightly on the ring to rotate it.
Check that the pressure lid is fully locked and the pressure release valve is in the SEAL
position when pressure cooking.
If you want to shorten the time it takes the unit to build pressure, use hot liquid.
